William Dudley Jenkins, age 70, of 442 Shirley Circle, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at his residence with his family by his side. Born on February 5, 1947, in Anderson, he was the son of the late Ralph Jenkins and the late Martha Bademas Jenkins. For thirty three years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Linda Dickson Jenkins of the home. Dudley was a graduate of T. L. Hanna High School, Class of 1966. While at Hanna, he was a star athlete where he played varsity football, wearing jersey # 81. After attending Anderson College, he proudly served his country in the US Navy for four years, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. Not only was he proud to serve his country, his life was emblematic of serving others. Dudley was owner and operator of Back to Nature Landscaping, sometimes known as "Sweeter Than Dirt." His family felt that his passing on Earth Day was befitting of a man who loved nature and the outdoors. In addition to boating and lake living, Dudley was an avid sports fan, and especially loved his Clemson Tigers. While growing up Dudley and his family attended Grace Episcopal Church, and later became a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Linda, Dudley is survived by a daughter, Ashley Carroll Jenkins of Anderson; two sons, Jonathan Kirk Burriss and his wife Alyson of Anderson and Kirk Damon Burriss and his wife, Tonya of Anderson; two grandchildren, Talon Jace Burriss and Drake Austin Burriss; and a brother, Marty Jenkins of Anderson. Dudley will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate the life of Dudley Jenkins will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 2 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Tony Smith and Reverend John B. Hardaway, IV officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Contributions in memory of Dudley may be made to the Anderson Area Y.M.C.A., 201 E.
