EARL WEBSTER MARTIN October 13, 1920 - April 2, 2012 WILLIAMSTON, SC Earl Webster Martin, 91, husband of Anne Bowyer Martin of 508 Mountain View Road, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012 at his residence.Born in Casa Grande, AZ, he was the son of Homer Martin and Rachel McIver Martin. Mr. Martin was a United States Army Air-Corps veteran serving as a B-17 pilot in WWII and was a P.O.W. He then joined the United States Air Force serving as a Captain during the Korean Conflict. He then became employed with Eastern Airlines. In 1963 he became a Burger King franchisee opening the first Burger King in Anderson. He retired in 1980. He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, where he holds the office of Elder Emeritus. He was a long time teacher for the Alice Brown Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife of the home; his children, Rodney Earl Martin and his wife Patti and their children, Paul Webster and Christopher Earl; Nancy Martin, Gale Bowyer and his wife Vicki, Robert Bowyer and his wife Brenda, Kenneth Bowyer and his wife Iris, Hugh Bowyer and his wife Cheryl, and Jean Marie Bowyer. Also surviving are his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents he is predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.Following a private family Committal Service, a Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 11:00am officiated by the Reverend Dr. Dennis R. Tedder and Reverend Caroline East Berardi.The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 302 West Whitner Street, Anderson, SC 29624 or Hospice of The Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.A message of condolence may be sent by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.
