Dr. Earl H. Roland, age 90, of Anderson, SC passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House. Born March 23, 1928 in Canton, OH, he was the son of the late Homer Vincent Roland and the late Pauline Miller Roland. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Roland and sister, Evelyn Stropki. Earl was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and earned his master's degree and PhD from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg, PA. He worked in several industries over his career, including Westinghouse in the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory Division, TRW, True Temper Corp. and taught at Southern Wesleyan University. He was a Scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he and Willa volunteered as the library directors for over 18 years. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 67 years, Willa Emery Roland; sons, Mark Roland (Barbara) and Scott Roland; daughter, April Christopher (Michael); three grandchildren, Melissa, Erica and Philip and two great-grandchildren, Mina and Josie. The memorial service will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Teasley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
