Obituary

Edward Herbert Jackson, loving husband of Frances Priscilla Blackwell Jackson, age 85, passed away on December 18, 2017, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Polk County, NC, on April 14, 1932, he was a son of the late Alvin Corbett Jackson and the late Nancy Geneva Jackson Jackson. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. For 40 years he owned and operated Ed Jackson Services, a retail carpet sales and installation company. He was also a devoted member of West Anderson Church of God. In addition to his wife Frances, Ed is survived by his daughters, Alison J. Hale of Honea Path, SC, Alice J. Major (Samuel) of Inman, SC, Winatha J. Gilreath (Steven) of Belton, SC, Myra J. Olsen of Easley, SC, Melissa J. Day of Homerville, GA, and Patricia Peek (Bryan) of Asheville, NC; brother, Tom Jackson (Lucille) of Mills River, NC; sisters, Clara J. Mann (James), Ruth J. Chilen, and Sherry Jackson, all of Flat Rock, NC; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Harloam and Jeanette Bridges. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at West Anderson Church of God with Reverend Mark Daniel officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service starting at 12:30 p.m. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Anderson Church of God, 101 Rogers St., Anderson, SC 29625.
