Eddie Hamby Anderson, SC James Edward "Eddie" Hamby, age 68, husband of Brenda Waters Hamby, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Richard Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home. Born in Dublin, GA, on November 15, 1945, he was the son of Sallie Revels and the late Clarence E. Hamby. He proudly served his country in the United State Army, during Vietnam. He retired after 33 years as a Sergeant with the Anderson County Sherriff's Office, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Eddie was a member of the VFW, and a Mason. He was an avid race fan at Anderson Motor Speedway. He was a member of Centerville Baptist Church, where he served as usher. In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by his step-mother, Corinne Hamby; his children, Scott Hamby and his wife Lisa, Misty Davis, Amy Fowler and Josh McGee and his wife Beth, all of Anderson, SC; a brother, Daniel Hamby; a sister, Sharon Carroll; and was affectionately known as "Poppy" or "Papa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Branson, Andrew, Heather, Dylan, Whittney, Madison, Alice, Ruby, Kennadie and Kadence. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Everette Hamby. The Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Centerville Baptist Church with Reverend Robbie Smith officiating. Interment will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Military and Policeman Honors. The family would like to thank the staff of unit 605 of Richard Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home and PH Healthcare Hospice for the excellent love and care shown to Mr. Hamby during his time of sickness.
