Obituary

Edith Louise Bowling Dillard, age 80, of Pacolet, SC, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at her home. She was born December 24, 1940 in Pelzer, SC, and was the daughter of the late Marion Dewitt "Shorty" Bowling and Ellie Caldwell Bowling. Edith grew up in the White Plains community before moving to Anderson, and was a 1959 graduate of Girls High. For over 20 years, she supported her husband's Air Force career living in both the United States and abroad which was the beginning of her love of travel, especially in Europe. Following her husband's military career, Edith worked for Seabrook Draper for over 25 years working in both Anderson and Spartanburg. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed gardening but especially loved to crochet for her family and friends. Edith enjoyed trivia and was an avid Jeopardy fan. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Richard Lee Dillard of the home; children, Richard Bryan Dillard of Spartanburg, SC, Teresa Diane Huffman of Woodstock, GA, and Roger Marion Dillard (Mona) of Snellville, GA; sister, Dorothy Bowling Turpin of Anderson, SC; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sara Gentry. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 24, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 1:00 pm at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. Flowers are optional and memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 156 Milestone Way, Suite A, Greenville, SC 29615.
