Edith Frances Triguero, age 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning November 2, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. She was born June 7,1927, as the third oldest of 7 children and grew up in South Hill, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank L. Nanny, Sr. and Edith Frances Nanney, her husband John Michael Triguero, her son John Michael Triguero, Jr., her sister Amelia Lynn, and her brothers Joseph Nanney, Taylor Jackson Nanney, and Harry Nanney. Because her mother had her same name, she was always Frances to family members and many social contacts, but Edith to most people she met through the work environment.
She is survived by her oldest sister, Virginia Watkins, her youngest brother Frank L. Nanney, Jr., her four children, Colleen Hamm, Wayne Triguero, Carmen Yorde, and Linda McCormick, 3 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She had a long and successful career after high school. One of her first jobs was working at the Pentagon during WWII when she was 18. She married John M. Triguero, who was in the U.S. Army. This allowed her to travel to many places including living in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Munich, Germany. She held many administrative jobs for both Army and Air Force senior leaders, worked at Radio Free Europe in the late 1950's and eventually became a senior administrator for the Social Security Administration, retiring in 1984.
She was very active in her community. She was a long-time member of the Eastern Star and the Ladies of the Oriental Shrine of North America organizations. She volunteered for many years at the Anderson County Library and was honored just recently as the first to receive the Henry Spann Volunteer of the Year award. She was also active in her church, St. George's Episcopal Church.
