Edna Bannister Scott, 80, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House.

She was born August 24, 1944, in Anderson, SC and was a daughter to the late Archie Bannister and the late Ruby Todd Bannister. Edna was also predeceased by her husband, Richard Wayne Scott and sister, Evelyn Maynard.

Edna received an associate's degree from Anderson College and worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail clerk. She was a jokester by choice and loved all of the shenanigans pulled with her friend, Gail Cannon. She was very involved in her church, Starr Baptist. Her favorite past-time was taking care of kids, especially spoiling her grandchildren with amazing gifts. Sweets were her specialty; not only baking and decorating elaborate cakes, but she also relished Krispy Kreme lemon donuts and butter pecan ice cream. Her pride and joy were her family and spending time with each was the height of her being. She will be missed by her precious family and by the many people she loved and treated as family.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Ansley Stansell (Ben); grandchildren: Will Woodson (Brandon), Anna Woodson (Johnny), and Caroline Woodson (Nikki); great grandchildren, Caden Woodson, Weston Woodson, Ava LaGroone, and Kellen; brothers, Dan Bannister (Debbie), Fleet Bannister (Melinda), and Wade Bannister (Mary); sisters, Jan Holland (Jimmy-DCD), Linda McClure (Johnny) and Margaret Roberts (Donald); and, honorary granddaughter, Kayla Bannister.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Tony Howell and Rev. David Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park where Edna will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Scotty.
