Edna Posey Slaton, age 80, of Townville, SC, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at AnMed Medical Center.

Born May 13, 1943, in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Herbert Posey and Alma Davis Posey. She was married for 57 years to James Allen Slaton, Sr. until his death in 2018. She was also preceded in death by brothers, John Franklin Posey and Jerry Clayton Posey; and sisters, Nancy Posey Brown and Margaret Posey McAlister.

Edna graduated Townville High School as the Senior class Valedictorian. She continued her education and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Limestone College with the Honors of Magna Cum Laude. She worked in banking for over 15 years and was the Co-Owner of Slaton Farms with her husband, Allen in Townville. She was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 60 years. Edna loved the Lord, her grandchildren, her dogs, cooking, canning, and sewing. She was an avid gardener and collector of heirloom seeds. She loved her family and dedicated her life to them through love, support, and encouragement to follow your dreams with all of your heart, embrace life, and have a passion for accomplishment. "He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much."

She is survived by her son, James Allen Slaton, Jr. of Townville; daughter, Angela Slaton Radford (Lance) of Chesnee; brother, George Wesley Posey of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Anna Kristen Slaton, Jordan English Radford, Easton Davis Radford, and Arden Madison Radford.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 1:30-2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Daryle Hawthorne, Rev. Kyle Caudell, and Rev. Dwayne Peeples officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
