Edna Odelia Howell Stansell, age 82, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at AnMed Health Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Anderson County, SC on February 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Edd Howell and the late Essie James Howell. Edna was employed at The Meeting Place, formerly known as Giles Restaurant, for more than 50 years, retiring at the age of 80. She enjoyed working in her yard and traveling. She was a member of North Anderson Pentecostal Holiness Church where she held the position of Pastor's wife. Her church remembers her as "the glue that held the church together". Edna loved her restaurant family and her church family, but the light in her eyes was her husband, her three girls, and her grandbabies. She was a faithful and devoted wife to Reverend Joe "Frog" Stansell, Jr. for 65 years. She was the loving mother to Donna Stansell Mullinax (Randy), Vicki Stansell Powell (Freddy), and Kim Stansell Evans (Rick). She was Nennie to her grandchildren Josh Crenshaw (Liza), Michael McClain, Reverend Jordan Evans (Samantha), Hunter Evans (Summer); and great-grandchildren, Allie Evans, Lexi Evans, and Holder Ann McClain. She is also survived by her sisters, Mattie Powell and Ruth Hanks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Howell; and two sisters, Naomi Simpson and Ruby Holbrook. The Service to Honor and Celebrate Mrs. Stansell's life will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with her grandson, Reverend Jordan Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
