Edna Grace Chastain Winchester, age 92, of 238 Winchester Road, Townville, went home to be with Her Lord when she died at her residence on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. Born in Anderson on September 24, 1921, she was the daughter of the late J.S. Chastain and the late Ethel Todd Chastain. For 71 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Joseph Marvin Winchester until his death in 2006. Mrs. Winchester was a long time member of Oakdale Baptist Church where she served her Lord in many capacities. She was very active as long as her health permitted. Edna was a member of the choir for many years, the Young at Heart organization, was treasurer of her Sunday School Class and served on the Bereavement Committee. She was retired from Abney Mills where she was employed as a cloth inspector. Mrs. Winchester leaves behind a family and a host of friends who loved her dearly. She is survived by 4 sons, Joseph Earl Winchester of the residence, Larry E. Winchester and his wife, Patricia, James Robert Winchester and his wife, Mary Anne, and Terry Marvin Winchester, all of Townville; a granddaughter raised in the home, Angela Winchester of Hodges, SC, and other grandchildren Robin, Vicky, Aaron, Grant, Sheila, Cassi and Marcy; also surviving are 2 great grandsons, Zack and Jake. In addition to her parents and her husband, Marvin, Edna was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James and Clyde Chastain. The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Edna Winchester will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014, at 3 PM, at the Oakdale Baptist Church in Townville, with Rev. David Blizzard and Rev. David Walters officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends on Friday, May 16, 2014, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Oakdale Baptist Church.
