It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edrick Norris Perego, 95, of Seneca, SC on December 20, 2021, of natural causes.
Norris was born on August 20, 1926 to parents Clarence Andrew Perego and Ida Mae Perego (Muckleroy) in Newton, TX. He went on to study and play football at the University of Texas, Austin and registered for the draft when he turned 18. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during World War II and fought bravely for our country in the European campaign. He joked that he chose the paratroopers over the infantry because "I only had to walk one way".
Norris was preceded in death by his former spouse Meriam Faye Perego (Adams), siblings Helen Perego McClung, Jesse Arnold Perego, Winford Benson "Buddy" Perego, and Josie Lavana Perego Smith. He is survived by his former spouse Janice Perego (Rogers), sister Melba Joy Perego McMahon, son and daughter-in-law Richard Edrick Perego and Tomasena Lynn Perego, son Ronald Perego, stepchildren Cynthia Michelle Kelley, Anthony Ray Kelley, and Andy Jay Kelley, step-grandchildren Tess, Kegan, Jessica, Dalton, Kristy, Emily, and Jacob, and 3 other grandchildren.
Norris was an avid outdoorsman and a wonderful storyteller with a great sense of humor. He loved fishing, bow hunting, and working with his hands. He was great at designing and building things and could fix anything that was broken. He continued to work on many creative ideas throughout his final days, including improved housing options for veterans.
