Obituary

Edward Holliday, age 89, of Legacy Senior Living, 3501 North Highway 81 Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 in the loving care of the staff at Rainey Hospice House. He was the widower of Frances Babb Holliday and a former resident of Belton for more than sixty years. Born in Holmes County, Florida on March 11, 1929, he was the son of the late John W. Holliday and the late Vitral Prescott Holliday. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served honorably from 1946 until 1948. After his service, he enjoyed a long career in textiles, retail grocery management, and as a carrier for The Anderson Independent. Surviving are his four children; sons Terry Holliday (Denise) of Fairview, NC, Richard Holliday (Libby) of Belton, Tim "Timbo" Holliday (Connie) of Asheville, NC, and daughter, Glenda Holliday of Summerville, SC. A brother, William J. "Bill" Holliday (Gerry) of Ozark, AL; three sisters, Pauline Wallace (Riley) of Shreveport, LA, Maxine Fountain (Jack) of Pelzer, and Patricia "Patsy" Groce of Gainesville, FL. Nine grandchildren, Christy Greer (Alex) of Easley, SC, Jamie Cooley (Jennifer) of Bonneau, SC, Melissa Negreiros (Marcos) of Charleston, SC, Brianne Clark (Barry) of North Augusta, SC, Adam Holliday (Megan) of Sunbury, OH, Jill Deaton (Austin) of Anderson, Ellie Holliday (Bryan Haydon) of Lexington, KY, Cole Holliday and Luke Holliday of Mauldin. Also surviving are twelve beautiful great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to his loving wife of 68 years and his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers, Burnnie Holliday and Gerald Holliday, and grandson, Blake Holliday #19. A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Edward Holliday will be held 11:00am Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the Committal Shelter at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery, with Rev. T. Dale Lynch officiating. The family will be at their respective homes and will visit with family and friends at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper following the service.
