EDWARD MYERS, SR. Edward Gene Myers, Sr., age 76, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at AnMed Health Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 25, 1937, in Commerce, GA, he was the son of the late Guy Myers and the late Etta McAlister Myers. For 53 years he was the loving and devoted husband of the late Mary Frances Burdette Myers until her death in 2009. Upon completion of his education, Mr. Myers was a loom fixer at Toxaway Mill as well as other textile plants in the area. He enjoyed attending auctions and fishing, however his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He had a gift of being able to make people laugh, even when he himself was going through difficult times with his health. He was a member of Life Tabernacle. Survivors include a son, Edward G. Myers, Jr., (Lori) of Anderson; 4 daughters, Janice Stephens (Thomas), Sharon Bagwell, Joyce Butler (Ray), and Amanda Davis, all of Anderson; a brother, G. L. Myers (Gladys) of Anderson; a sister, Sybil Brown of Anderson; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Woody, Rebecca Dahlin, Chris Bagwell, Kim Haney, Daniel Butler, Julia Watkins, Michele Yarborough, Keri Myers Reed, Edward Myers, III, Miranda Quaile, Brittany Davis, and Baylee Davis; also surviving are 14 great-grandchildren and a special friend who meant so much to him, Joyce Parnell of Anderson. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Edward Myers, Sr. will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2014,at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Butler and Rev. Timothy Burdette officiating. Also speaking in behalf of the grandchildren will be Daniel Butler. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Those serving as pall bearers include Tyler Watkins, Chris Bagwell, Carl Dahlin, Eric Woody, Edward Myers, III, and Jeremy Haney.
