Main Street Anderson, SC 29621 OBITUARY WITH FLAG ED WELCHJUNE 29, 1927 - AuguST 12, 2008TOWNVILLE, SCEdward McCoy Welch, Sr., age 81, of 430 Broyles Point Road, Townville and formerly a twenty-year resident of Lake Norman in Statesville, NC went to his heavenly home on August 12, 2008 at the AnMed Health Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born in Winston-Salem, NC, on June 29, 1927, he was a son of the late Mack and Nellie Holman Welch. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in World War II. Mr. Welch retired after thirty-four years of service from McLean Trucking Company. He was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC and was a volunteer with the Rescue Squad for many years. Mr. Welch was also a Past President of the Twin City Bass Masters Club. While a resident of Lake Norman, he enjoyed being a sales rep for Hawg Caller Baits for several years. While a resident of Townville, he was formerly employed by Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse and attended Oakdale Baptist Church. He had a great passion for fishing and hunting and won many bass tournaments. He also enjoyed gardening, NASCAR races and had a kind and loving heart for all animals. Survivors include his wife of almost fifty-eight years, Loretta Jordan Welch, of the home; daughter, Jeanne Welch of Townville, SC; son, Edward McCoy 'Eddie' Welch, Jr. and wife, Carol Yon Welch of Pendleton, SC; son-in-law, John Robert Baldwin of Connecticut; five grandchildren: Matthew and Jeanne Baldwin of Connecticut, Bridgette, Bryson and Baylor Welch of Pendleton, SC. Also surviving Mr. Welch is a number of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved K-9 companion, 'Angel'. In addition to his parents, Mr. Welch was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Linda Darlene Welch Baldwin July 7, 2007; sister, Helen Welch Bodsford; and brothers, George Welch and Roy Welch. PAGE TWO Edward Welch ObituaryA Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Woodland Cemetery in Winston-Salem, NC conducted by the Reverend Cecil Cave. A Celebration of Mr. Welch's Life will be held at a later date at the family home on Lake Hartwell.
