EDWIN "RAY" NICHOLS May 12, 1931 - October 7, 2013 SPARTANBURG, SC Edwin "Ray" Nichols, age 82, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Mary Black Hospital in Spartanburg. Born in Tuscaloosa, AL, he was the son of the late Oscar Ceemore Nichols and the late Lula Belle Sandford. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife, Lucile Culbreth Nichols; his children, Allen Nichols (Kay), of Starr, SC, Phillip Nichols (Carol), of Starr, SC, Jeff Nichols, of Anderson, SC, Paul Nichols, of Anderson, SC and Linda Reed (Joe), of Starr, SC; a step-daughter, Lindy Kovalanchik (Hank), of Hilton Head, SC; 22 brothers and sisters; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Mae Ellis Nichols. The Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Richard Williams officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service until 12:30 PM.
