IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Effie L
Crowell
March 9, 1936 – November 28, 2025
On Friday, November 28, 2025, Effie Crowell, passed away at her home in Townville, SC with her family by her side.
She was born in Utica, MS, on March 9, 1936, to the late George W. White, Sr., and the late Lillie Lou Park White. She was married to Montie Crowell who passed away in February 2020.
Effie worked for years as a vendor at the Anderson Jockey Lot and during holidays, at the Hwy 24 Fireworks stand. Most people knew her as a "Diva" . She knew all the current fashion trends; she knew how to dress and loved to dress-up. She found joy in gardening, especially tulips and roses. Effie was also known for her storytelling. Effie could twist a tale full of vivid descriptions, mystery, and "some" truths to captivate any audience. She had traveled to 48 states and Europe but found the most delight traveling back home to Texas. Effie was many things a world traveler, seeker of fun, bird watcher, shopper, collector of frogs, however, she relished quiet times watching the Andy Griffith Show and Gunsmoke. But to her family she will always be remembered for her deep love, her strong hand, her love of every second of every day and the pride she had for all of her family.
Left to cherish her love and memories are her children, Bill Foltermann, Jr., Scarlett Foltermann, Rickey Cline and Roeanna Cline; grandchildren Crystal Wood, Reanelle Ripberger, Tracy Medlock, Sierra Meeks and Chelsea Tosco; and all of her great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by siblings and a grandson, Joseph Cline.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 3:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. Celebrant Mike Rippy will officiate. The family will greet visitors following the service at the funeral home. Effie will return to San Antonio, TX for entombment at Mission Park Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
