Elizabeth Inez Waters Burdette, 93, of Anderson, SC known as "Bill" passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Condor Health Anderson.
Born April 8, 1926 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late LaFaye Waters and Mildred Gilbert Waters. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Walter Burdette; brothers, Lewis Hicks, James Hicks and Albert Waters and sister, Hattie Lance.
Elizabeth worked picking cotton from the age of 7 until she was 14. At that time, she became employed by Orr Lyon Textiles, where she worked for 48 years. At the age of 62 she began working for Family Dollar and she worked there for 17 years.
She was a member of South Pointe Baptist Church, formerly known as Evergreen Hills Baptist Church. She loved gardening and was known for her cooking abilities. She was very devoted to her family and loved her church. She enjoyed spending time with her neighbors, "Ladies under the trees" and was also known for her smile. Elizabeth was a true woman soldier.
She is survived by her son, James Raymond "Jim" Burdette. She was affectionately known as "Granny Bill" by her granddaughters, Gwynne Vickery (Todd) and Carla Center (Trent); great grandsons, Sam and Mason Center and special nieces, Agatha Babb (David), Dr. Brenda S. Richardson, Mary Bryson and Tommie Hancock (Joe).

The family will have a private family service celebrating her 94th birthday on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Preacher David Neal, which Mr. and Mrs. Burdette loved dearly, will also be doing an online service at 1:00 pm on the church website at www.southpointebaptistchurch.com.
