ELIZABETH DOBBINSAugust 26, 1918- July 31, 2009TOWNVILLE, SCElizabeth Gaines Dobbins, age 90, wife of Fred Dobbins, of 614 Fred Dobbins Road, died Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Anderson, SC on August 26, 1918, Mrs. Dobbins was the daughter of the late F. Lee Gaines and Sarah Shirley Gaines. She was a member of Townville Baptist Church where she held various leadership positions in the W.M.U. and taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Dobbins was a graduate of Limestone College and taught at Anderson College for several years.Survivors include her husband, Fred Dobbins, of the home; three sons, Fred Dobbins, Jr. and his wife Patricia, of Spartanburg, SC, Richard Dobbins and his wife Becky and Rhett Dobbins and his wife Ann, all of Townville, SC; and one sister, Jennie G. Manning of Anderson, SC; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dobbins was predeceased by three sisters, Vivian Merkel, Minnie Lee Keese and Eleanor Gaines and one brother, Ozell Gaines.The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 3:30 PM at Townville Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Greg Nix. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends at Townville Baptist Church on Sunday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 PM on Sunday.The family will be at the residence.The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
