Obituary

Elizabeth Brown Smith Hadden, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in Anderson, SC. Mrs. Hadden, daughter of William Clinton and Carrie Brown Smith, was born at the Smith Home in Cowpens, SC on April 3, 1926. A graduate of Limestone College, she served as Assistant Director of Food Services for the Spartanburg County Schools, the Director of Food Services for Winnsboro County Schools, and the Director of Food Services for Anderson County Schools, from which she retired. While in Spartanburg, Mrs. Hadden also served as the certified dietitian for several nursing homes. Mrs. Hadden is survived by her youngest brother B. Clint Smith, Waynesville, NC, and her sister-in-law Marjorie A. Smith, Marietta, GA; four nephews and three nieces and their spouses: Henry C. Giles, Jr. (Nancy,) Rutherfordton, NC; Carole G. Hughes (John), Mt Pleasant, SC; Burt C. Smith, Jr. (Carol), Waynesville, NC; Mildred S. Horne, Asheville, NC; Martha S. Stroup (Roger), Columbia, SC; W. Clint Smith, Matthews, NC; William "Bill" E. Smith, Jr. (Laura), Marietta, GA.; eight great nieces and six great nephews, three great great nephews and two great great nieces; three step grandsons: Mike, Daniel(Tammy); Donald (Annette) Israel; one step granddaughter: Beverly Israel Hensley (Bob); 6 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the family of Mrs. Phyllis Allen, Mrs. Hadden's friend and caregiver. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-one years, Ralph C. Hadden, her parents, her step daughter, Anne H. Israel, three sisters: M. Frances Smith, Doris S. Giles, Bertha S. Cain, and three brothers, John P. Smith, M. Hoke Smith, William "Bill" E. Smith. The funeral will be held Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 11 am at Boulevard Baptist Church in Anderson, preceded with visitation at 10 am The Entombment will be at 3 pm at the Mausoleum, Greenlawn Cemetery, 1300 Fernwood -Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC. In lieu of florals, family suggests memorials may be made to her church, Boulevard Baptist Church, 700 Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd, Anderson, SC 29621.
