Elizabeth Orr Harris, age 102, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at AnMed Health Medical Center with her family at her side. Born on March 23, 1912, in Edgemoor, SC, she was the daughter of the late Alwin Hartwell Orr and the late Sarah Wood Orr. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Patrick Bradley Harris for 65 years until his death in 2001. Mrs. Harris attended Winthrop College and graduated from Queens-Chicora College in Charlotte, NC. After graduating from college, Elizabeth was employed in Chester County, SC, as a Home Demonstration Agent. Later she moved to Anderson and served as a Home Demonstration Agent in the Townville area. In 1943, Mrs. Harris began a lengthy career in public school education when she was employed as a Home Economics teacher at Anderson's Girl's High School. She later taught math and social studies at McCants Junior High School. Mrs. Harris has had a positive impact on many of Anderson's young people for over 40 years. Mrs. Harris was a member of Young Memorial ARP Church where she was active in the Business Women's Circle. Mrs. Harris, known by many as "Miss Lib", will be remembered for the crocheted afghans which she lovingly made and gave to friends and family. "Miss Lib" was an excellent cook whose specialties included baking cookies, cakes and preparing delicious fried chicken, all of which was enjoyed by many. Survivors include a son, Patrick B. Harris, Jr. of Anderson; 2 grandchildren, Patrick B. Harris, III of Anderson, and Elizabeth B. Harris of Frankfurt, Germany; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Patrick, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by a brother, A. H. Orr, Jr., and a sister, Augusta Wolff. A funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Elizabeth Harris will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Young Memorial A.R.P. Church, with Dr. Thomas Richie and Rev. Dr. Jeff Bost officiating. Entombment will follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
