Elizabeth Thomson Haynie, age 83, of Belton, SC, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born September 16, 1939, in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Waddy Randolph Thomson and Sarah Elizabeth Motte Thomson. She was married to Moffatt Todd "Toppy" Haynie Jr. until his death in 2016. Betsy was a graduate of Queens College and a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Belton where she was a member of the choir, a longtime volunteer with the choir and music department, and the pianist for the "Live Wire" Choir. She is survived by her sons, Moffatt "Todd" Haynie III (Joy) of Columbia, SC, and Waddy Thomson "Tom" Haynie of Hampton, VA; brother, Waddy Randolph Thomson III (Byrd) of Charlotte, NC; and grandchildren, Moffatt Todd Haynie IV and Finley Joy Haynie both of Columbia, SC. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 11:00 am at Belton City Cemetery with Rev. Nick Kirby officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Room at First Baptist Church of Belton.
