McDuffie Street Ext., wife of the late J. D. 'Jake' Simpson, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at her residence.Born in Pelzer, SC on March 11, 1920, Mrs. Simpson was the daughter of the late Fred Kirby and Bessie Harvey Kirby. She was a homemaker and a member of High Praises Church of God where she also enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was a former member of McDuffie Street Church of God where she was secretary of the Women's Ministry, member of the church choir and worked in the Junior Department. Survivors include her son, Johnny D. Simpson and his wife, Diane; daughters, Shirley Simpson and Peggy Wilbanks and her husband, Earl, all of Anderson and Vicky Boyer and her husband, Ron of Wapakoneta, Ohio; brothers, C. F. Kirby and Bobby Joe Kirby, both of Anderson. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren also survive.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Simpson; daughter, Dianne Brady and brothers, Furman and Vernon Kirby.The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 3:00 pm at High Praises Church of God officiated by the Reverend Chris Sustar.
