ELIZABETH B. WAKEFIELD January 21, 1918 - July 15, 2012 Mrs. Elizabeth "Bo" Brown Wakefield, age 94, of 201 Edgebrook Drive, formerly of 1209 Rutledge Way, died on Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC. Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Dexter Brown and the late Frances Finley Brown. For 66 years, she was the devoted wife of David C. Wakefield, Jr. who died in 2008. Mrs. Wakefield attended the Anderson Public Schools and graduated from Randolph Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, Virginia. She was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother. For two years prior to her marriage, she taught school in Anderson. "Bo" was an avid writer, a member of Anderson Writers Guild, and a founding member of Anderson Arts Council. Many remember her in earlier years as an adult Sunday School teacher at Anderson's First Baptist Church. Mrs. Wakefield was a faithful member of the Living Church of God for 36 years. Mrs. Wakefield is survived by her daughter, Jennie Elizabeth Wakefield of Greenville, SC; and two sons: David C. Wakefield, III and his wife, Sally, of Anderson and Dexter B. Wakefield and his wife Marcia of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Lillian Brown Glenn of Anderson; a brother, John Francis Brown and his wife, Judy, of Columbia; also surviving are seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, J. Donald Brown, Sr., Edward F. Brown, Joseph Dexter Brown, Jr., and C. Gist Brown; and a sister, Gladys Brown Rogers. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the New Silver Brook Cemetery with Mr. Ron Poole officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at New Silver Brook.
