Mrs. Ellen Elizabeth Burks, age 87, of Anderson, South Carolina peacefully joined the Lord, on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023. She was born on January 11th, 1936, in Alma, Arkansas to the late George Washington Barber and Mary Jane Patillo Barber. Ellen worked as a dietician for many years in El Paso, Texas. After retiring in 1971, she relocated to Greenville, South Carolina to be closer to her family. In 1994 she made the decision to plant her roots in Anderson, South Carolina and called that home for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed sewing matching outfits for her grandchildren and quilting. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Alex Junior Burks; daughters, Patricia Elizabeth Nesloney and Betty Sue Burks; brothers, Robert Lee Barber and Andrew Barber. She is survived by her son, Charles William Burks (Cinda); daughter, Sandra Ellen Rowland; brother, Joseph Lee (Sharon); sisters, Margaret Ruth Barnett and Shirley Mae Cook; grandchildren, Joseph Lee Rowland, LaTasha Marie Woods, Jessica Noel Donaldson (Patrick), Charles William Burks II (Brittany), Connor Rhodes Burks (Elizabeth), Jincie "Alex" Burks; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Amelia, Aislyn, Keegan, Amelia, Sebastian, Declan, Bryce, Eamon, Lincoln, Della, Cohen; great-great-grandchildren, Alexis, Isla-Rose.
