Ellen Selman Fortune Cenzalli, age 79, of 1202 Hanover Road, Anderson, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Chattanooga, TN on July 1, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Archibald S. Fortune and the late Sarah Enloe Fortune. The Fortune family owned and operated the Fortune Hosiery Mill in LaFayette, Georgia. For forty-seven years, she was the loving and devoted wife of J. Richard Cenzalli (Dick) of Anderson. Ellen attended Winston-Salem Academy in Winston-Salem, NC,was a graduate of The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, and attended the University of Georgia. In addition to her husband, Richard, Mrs. Cenzalli is survived by three daughters, Mary Ellen Fortune Cenzalli of Atlanta, GA, Sarah Elizabeth Cenzalli Stuckey and her husband Rick of Anderson, SC, and Josephine Emelyn Cenzalli Steevens and her husband Jeff of Columbia, MO; a brother, Archibald R. Fortune and his wife Janice of LaFayette, GA; two sisters, Eddie Fortune Lowe and her husband Alex of Atlanta and Sally Fortune Berry and her husband Arthur also of Atlanta; and four grandchildren Mac and J. Steele Stuckey and Ren and Sarah Steevens. The family is being served in Anderson, SC by The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 in LaFayette GA beginning with a memorial service 12:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of LaFayette, Mrs. Cenzalli's childhood church. A reception will follow at the Spencer Marsh Warthen House, an antebellum home on the National Historic Register built for the family's ancestors.
