RIPPETOE March 10, 1920 - January 24, 2009ANDERSON, SCMrs. Ellen Ethel Goolsby Rippetoe, age 88, of Anderson, died Saturday, January 24, 2009 at NHC Health Care in Anderson. Born in Cookeville, TN on March 10, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Elvis and Betty Allen Goolsby. She was retired from Uniroyal in Detroit, MI and had been a resident of Anderson, SC for 38 years. She was the widow of Fred Rippetoe after 59 years of marriage and was a member of Concord Baptist Church.She is survived by a son, David and his wife, Rebecca Rippetoe of Severn, MD; two granddaughters and their husbands, Jody and Bill Smythe of Omaha, NB and Kelly and Steve Kenneally of Alexandria, VA; one grandson, David Rippetoe, Jr., of Hartford, CT; two great-granddaughters, Corey and Emily Smythe of Omaha, NB; two great-grandsons, William and Thomas Kenneally of Alexandria, VA. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jo Vinton; two brothers, Ervill and Harley Goolsby; a sister, Gloria Kenward; two half-brothers, Comer and Ogle Goolsby; a half-sister, Dot Hammond.The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 30, 2009 at Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Service officiated by the Reverend Johnny Fox. Interment will follow in Pippin Cemetery in Cookeville, TN.Public visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 29, 2009.Memorials may be made to Concord Baptist Church, 1012 Concord Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
