Ellie Lois Powell Barnes, 93, a longtime resident of Anderson, SC, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the Palmettos of Charleston. Born August 28, 1927 in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Edward Powell and Lois Eunice Bell Powell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Barnes; brothers, Albert, Eldridge, Everett and James E. Powell, Jr. and sisters, Mildred Hawkins and Katherine Powell. Ellie was retired from Clark-Schwebel and later worked for the Anderson School District 5. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, Frank Barnes (Brenda) of Charleston, SC and Kenneth Barnes (Patricia) of Palm Bay, FL and four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Alan, Michael and Brian (Melinda). The graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, February 21, 2021 at New Silver Brook Cemetery with Rev. Glenn Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Social distancing will be observed, and masks are required.
