Her devotion as a wife and mother was a manifestation of a heart that was committed to Christ'truly a servant's heart. She served quietly, compassionately and faithfully, and touched the lives of her family and friends in ways that will live on and continue to inspire all that had the privilege to know her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Iva for over 65 years, was a faithful member of the Sanctuary Choir for many years and also a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.Elsie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alton Beauford Drennon. They made their home in Iva, a community she dearly loved. It was her greatest joy to be the mother of three sons: Craig Drennon and his wife, Carrie; Danny Drennon and his wife, Cindy; Tommy Drennon and his wife, Vickie. Four grandchildren: Craig Drennon, Jr. and his wife, Wendi; Christie Drennon Payne and her husband, Teddie; Cory Drennon and his wife, Erin and Ashleigh Drennon. Six great-grandchildren: Jessica Payne; McKinsey Payne; Kaleigh Payne; Caid Drennon; Jovi Drennon; Addison Drennon. She was a wonderful grandmother who made her home a place where everyone was always warmly welcomed and loved. She is reunited with precious loved ones in heaven who predeceased her: father, Tom Bryant; mother, Fannie Mae Bryant and brother, Carlisle Bryant.The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to many close friends for their visits and loving acts of kindness. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 3:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Iva, officiated by the Reverend Jerry Gray, Reverend Roger Estridge and Reverend Paul Pinson. Interment will follow in Iva City Cemetery.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The family will be at the residence.Flowers are optional.
