ANN GRIFFINMARCH 16, 1934 - March 2, 2011ANDERSON, SC'Elsie Ann McCullough Griffin, age 76, wife of Eugene L. Griffin, Jr., passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.Born March 16, 1934, in Atlanta, GA, she was a daughter of the late Lewell O. McCullough and Myrtice Coulon McCullough. She was a graduate of Central High School in Charlotte, NC, and Peace College in Raleigh, NC. Mrs. Griffin was the Broker and Owner of Ann Griffin Realty from 1971 until 1993. She was a former member of the Anderson Area Women's Association of Realtors, the Anderson Realtors Association, and the Anderson Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where she had served on various advisory committees and in recent years had the pleasure of hosting the Arts & Crafts during Vacation Bible School. Additionally, she served on the District Siting Committee for the United Methodist Church. A lifelong lover of children, in earlier years she was a swimming coach for the Anderson YMCA and was active within the Concord School PTA ' having served as a former President. She was an avid traveler and thoroughly enjoyed the game of tennis ' particularly when supporting her husband and son.Survivors include her husband of fifty-seven years, Eugene L. Griffin, Jr; son: Stephen L. Griffin of Anderson, SC; grandson, Stephen Andrew Griffin of Anderson, SC; granddaughters: Jennifer Lauren Elrod of Charleston, SC, Elizabeth Ann Elrod of Anderson, SC, Allison Leigh Elrod of Anderson, SC, and Rebecca Catherine Elrod of Anderson, SC; son-in-law, Lawrence Brantley Elrod of Anderson, SC; sisters-in-law: Joan Dry McCullough Lubold of Davidson, NC, and Tessie Crowell McCullough of Raleigh, NC. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Griffin was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Wanda Hope Griffin Elrod; her sister, Christine McCullough Cofer and husband, Donald R. Cofer; and her two brothers: Lewell O. McCullough, Jr., and John E. McCullough.A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 4, 2011, at St. John's United Methodist Church conducted by the Reverend Dan Batson. The family is at the home, 1101 Northampton Road, and they will receive friends immediately following the service in the Parlor of St. John's.
