Emily Jones Martin Emily Lorene Jones Martin, age 82, died on Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Majestic Health and Rehab in Easley. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Van Jones and the late Lessie Pace Jones. Mrs. Martin was a 1949 graduate of Pendleton High School and later attended Berry College in Rome, GA. For 30 years Emily was a seamstress at J. P. Stevens in Clemson. Mrs. Martin was a devoted member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Central. For many years, she was the pianist at Fant's Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Samiel Martin of Easley and Gail Blackwell and her husband, Barney, of Spartanburg; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, the late John Adger Martin, who died in 1998; also two sisters, Marie Hamlin and Elizabeth Bright. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Emily Martin will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. David E. Merck and Rev. Barney Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Anderson.
