Emma Jean Bruce Evans, age 85, widow of George Howard Evans, went home to Heaven on Friday, December 15, 2017. Born in Iva, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hiram "Scud" Bruce and Edna Morgan Bruce. She retired July 1, 1994 from Anderson County RMC office as supervisor after 33 years of service. She was an active member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church until her health hindered her from going. Survivors include her children, Rev. Bruce W. Evans and wife, Norma Jean, Sheryl Greenway and husband, Kent, Rhonda Haygood and husband, Jim, Roger Evans and wife, Judy; grandchildren, Patricia Wooten and husband, Scott, Amy Evans, Derek Evans, Cassie Palacino and husband, Stephen, Jennifer Phillips; great-grandchildren, Hannah Wooten, Tinsley Gable Evans, Brian Lee Lewis II, Brennan and Braxton Phillips, and Nathan Palacino. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Edna Christine Bruce. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, December 18, 2017 at Poplar Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Smith, Dr. Jack C. Moore and Rev. Ed Hunsinger officiating. Interment will follow in Iva City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 am -12:30 pm on Monday at the church prior to the service.
