Emory Gwinn Burton, age 84, of Iva, SC, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, at Rainey Hospice House. Born June 3, 1938, in Iva, he was a son of the late Emory Goss Burton and Olivia Copeland Burton. Emory was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and veteran of the United States Army. He was formerly the vice president of Tree of Life. As an avid photographer he loved his camera and taking pictures. His family will remember him as a great father, grandfather, and provider. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Iva. He is survived by his children, Joseph Burton (Tammy), Scott Burton, and Gina Ciferri (Michael); brother, Roger Rush Burton; sisters, Margaret Burton Gentry and Betty Lou Burton Johnson; grandchildren, Joseph Burton (Meredith), Cordell Burton, Michael Ciferri, and Olivia Ciferri; three nieces, one great nephew, and two great-great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William J. Burton; sister, Amy June Burton; and infant sister, Dixie. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, December 30, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Iva City Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Gray officiating.
