Erma Lucille Clanton Apple, age 92, of Anderson, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March, 3, 2022 at her home. Born December 20, 1929, in Statesville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Bard Clanton and Ollie Mae Tilley Clanton. She was married to A.P. Apple until his death in 1979. Erma spent her career in the textile industry and was retired from Wamsutta. She was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church in Statesville, NC. God's gift to her was her love of gardening. She enjoyed making the world a beautiful place. She is survived by her daughters, Devonna Travis (Dennis) of Statesville, NC, and Patricia Wells of Anderson, SC; brother, Dorman Clanton (Sue) of Statesville, NC; sister, Aileen Loyd (Max) of Clemson, SC; grandson Jody Travis (Adrienne) of Statesville, NC; great granddaughters, Jada and Ava Travis of Statesville, NC; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Hilda Roseman and Jeanette Pegram; brothers, Buford, Rayford, and Ralph Clanton; and son-in-law, John Wells. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
