Ernest Harrison Durham, 82, of Pendleton, SC, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, at his home.
Born July 18, 1942 in Pendleton, SC, he was the son of the late Ernest Ola Durham and Bessie Mae Burdette Durham. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ola Mae "Monk" Carver, a grandson, Walker Durham and a daughter-in-law, Allison Durham.
Ernest was a veteran of the US Navy. He worked as a mechanic for Clemson University and loved working in his shop to restore antique farm machinery. He enjoyed going to farm equipment shows with his brother and they worked together to form the Pendleton Old Farm Days Shows. He was a generous man who was known for giving to others and helping fix their lawn mowers, tractors, and others antique engines. Watching educational TV shows with his sons was a favorite pastime that will always be remembered.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ann Durham of Pendleton; sons, Barry Lee Durham (Jean) of Taylors and Spencer Eli Durham (Jamie) of Honea Path; a brother, Norman Durham (Elaine) of Pendleton; a sister, Geraldine Kelly of Belton; grandchildren, Jenna Crosby (John) and Haley Farmer (Alex) both of Greenville; step-grandchildren, Justin Clark of Honea Path, Josh Clark (Jennifer) of Belton, and Elizabeth Clark of Honea Path; a great-grandchild, Ember Crosby; step-great grandchildren, Christine Clark, Sarah Clark, Adriana Clark, Remington Clark and Rebecca Campbell.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 12 noon at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the McDougald Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Leland Bonds of the Anderson County Fire Department officiating. Burial will take place at Clemson Memory Gardens.
Flowers will be accepted.
