Ernest Hoyt Wiles, age 95 of Iva, SC, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Richard M. Campbell Nursing Home.

Born May 14, 1929, in Iva, SC, he was the son of the late Ernest V. Wiles and Minnie Elgin Wiles. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Young Wiles; and 9 brothers and sisters.

Hoyt was formerly employed with Appleton Mill and was a veteran of both the United States Navy and Army. He was also a 14-year cancer survivor. Hoyt was a man of many talents who could play both the guitar and banjo, but the banjo was his favorite. He was always telling stories and making people laugh. He enjoyed tool trading and loved farming in his spare time. His sweet corn was the best around! He was a member of Woodmen of the World and Lee Shoals Church of God where he formerly served as a Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his son, Stanley Hoyt Wiles (Doris) of Anderson; daughter, Kaye Minarovich of Iva; brother, Robert Wiles of Starr; sisters, Sara Mauldin of Starr and Linda Copeland (Ralph) of Anderson; grandchildren, Joey Stubblefield of Anderson, Stacey Fowler (John) of Starr, Justin Wiles (Joanna) of Anderson, Crystal Simeone (Robert) of Woodruff, Adam Minarovich (Cathy) of Anderson, and Sabrina Minarovich of Iva; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 11:00 am at Iva City Cemetery with Pastor Mark Fincannon officiating.

The family will be at their respective homes.
