Obituary

Ernestine Crocker "Grandcookie" Evans passed into Heaven to be with her Lord on February 8, 2019 at Lexington Medical Center in Columbia, SC. Born June 10, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Claude Clay and Daisy Evans Crocker of Anderson, SC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters Willie Mae Crocker Dyar, Geraldine Crocker Allen, Inez Crocker Welborn, brother Claude Martin Crocker, and their respective spouses. As recipient of both The Bailes Ring and The Danforth Award, she graduated Anderson's Girls High in 1944, married Dr. Joseph Ansel Evans Sr. December 8, 1951, was the proud and loving mother of six children and long-time member of First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Evans is survived by four sons and two daughters: Dr. Joseph Evans, Jr. and wife Deborah of Chapin, SC; Duane Evans and wife Elizabeth of Greenville, SC; Clay Evans and wife Kelly of Birmingham, AL; Anne Marie McGill and husband Pete of Athens, Ga.; Kelly Sue Wolff and husband Alan of Greenville, SC; and Phil Evans and wife Melissa, also of Greenville, SC. Ernestine is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren including Ashley Gharib, husband Ali, and great- grandsons Aiden and Ali Joseph of Washington, D.C.; Joseph Adam Evans, fiancee' Hazel, step great-grandson Sydney, and step great-granddaughter Samantha of Conway, SC; Anna Okupinski, husband Mike, and great-grandsons Quinn and Jude of Greenville, SC; Mikal McAlister, Husband Edward, and great-granddaughter Vio Crocker of Dakar Senegal, Africa; Tom Vestal Evans of Greenville, SC; Haley Skipper, husband Luke, and step great-grandson Dean of Birmingham, AL; Lynley Evans of Birmingham, AL; Andie Freedman, husband Eytan, and great-grandson Noah Clay of Birmingham, AL; Evans McGill of Columbia, SC; Katie Habegger, husband John, and great-granddaughter Sloan of Athens, GA; Ally, Analisa, and Karly Wolff of Greenville, SC; Madison Evans and great-granddaughter Blakely Hall of Greenville, SC; Andrew and James Evans of Greenville, SC; Kristen Gomez, husband Rocky, step great-granddaughter Sadie, and step great-grandson Carsten of Pomaria, SC; Ashley Jackson and husband Austin of Chapin, SC; Austin Shaffer, fiancee' Kenika, and step great-grandson Jaxon (deceased) of Irmo, SC; Geoffrey Drumm of Greenville, SC; Timmon Drumm, wife Elizabeth, and step great-grandsons Patrick and Benjamin of Westminster, CO ; and Dr. Siobhan Wulf and Husband Christian of Greenville, SC. A Memorial Service honoring the life of Mrs. Evans will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 15, 2019. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the McDougald Family Center and welcomes flowers or a donation to your favorite charity in the name of Mrs. Ernestine Crocker Evans.
