ERNESTINE MOORHEAD JONES ANDERSON, SC Ernestine Moorhead Jones, age 99, widow of James Hoyt Jones, Sr., died Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Greenwood County, SC, on February 27, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Robert Era Moorhead, Sr. and the late Sallie Estelle Copeland Moorhead. She was a life-long resident of Anderson and a graduate of Anderson Girls High. Ernestine was a long-time member of Pope Drive Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years. She is survived by two sons, James "Jim" Hoyt Jones, Jr. (Bobbie) and Robert David Jones; grandchildren, Sharon Cibene of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Linda Price (Carl) of Anderson, SC, Darlene Segars (George) of Sumter, SC, David Jones of Atlanta, GA, and Karen Hedgecock (Mike) of Columbia, SC; one sister, Margaret Raines (Howard), of Greenville, SC; two brothers, James Melvin Moorhead (Barbara), of Anderson, SC, and Charles "Chuck" William Moorhead, of Greenwood, SC. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Harold, David, and Louis Moorhead; and a daughter-in-law, Jean Jones. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Mack Tester officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff and the members of the Church who have faithfully visited and supported her through many years. They also wish to thank the staff members of Ellenburg Nursing Home and Hospice of the Upstate for their kind support for her and the family, as well as care-givers, Delphine Thompson and Laverne McDuffie who have kindly and professionally provided in-home healthcare for Ernestine for the last several years.
