Estelle Josephine Wood, age 79, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Sharon, CT on October 5, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Pickert and the late Charlotte Pickert. She proudly served her country in the United States Army. Estelle worked as a proof reader and manuscript typist for school books. She enjoyed her work as a manager of charitable foundations and trusts. She was a loving devoted mother and member of Loraine Avenue Baptist Church in Glendora, CA. She is survived by her children, Susan Jo Wharton (Ron), of Palm Springs, CA, John Alfred Wootton (Rohanda), of Anderson, SC, Chuck Wootton (Debra), of Anderson, SC, Guy James Wootton, of Anderson, SC and Tammy Wynn Wootton, of Anderson, SC; brothers, Bruddy Pickert and Stephan Pickert, both of Connecticut; sisters, Sandra Renike, of Connecticut, and Sharon Root, of Oregon; ten grandchildren, Brandon Scott Fisher, Jessica Lee Taylor, Josephine Lynn Wootton, Kyle Otis Wootton, James Allan Wootton, Matthew Scott Wootton, Richard Michael Wootton, Candace Nicole Wootton, Nathan Christopher Whiting, and Joseph Dean Whiting; and a beloved friend, Amanda Hart, of Anderson, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W.P. Wood; a brother, Weige Pickert; and a sister, Diane Pickert. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, March 17th at 2:00 PM with Rev. C. Luff Johnson officiating.
