The McDougald Funeral Home 2211 North Main Street Anderson, South Carolina 29621 864-224-4343 OBITUARY: ANDERSON, SC CARAY McABEE February 17, 1933 - March 9, 2013 Esther Caray Shaw McAbee, age 80, of 1208 Pearl Harbor Way, passed away at the residence of her son on Saturday, March 9, 2013. Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Shaw and the late Esther Rumsey Shaw. For 34 years, she was the devoted wife of the late Willie D. McAbee until his death in 1984. Mrs. McAbee was employed at the Scott Shirt Plant for 24 years. Her passion was her family and Atlanta Braves baseball. Survivors include 3 sons, James Randy McAbee, Charles Lee McAbee, and William Joel McAbee (Pam Martin), all of Anderson; 4 daughters, Mary Frances Dockins of Iva, Tina Harper (Mike) of Andrson, Judy Marie Shiflet of Anderson, and Barbara McAbee of Anderson; also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. McAbee was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bill and J.T. Shaw; 2 sisters, Florence Rice and Maggie Culbertson; 2 granddaughters, Jenny Marie Harper and Crystal Lynn Shiflet. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at 2 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with Chaplain Mike McCaulley officiating. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 PM until 8 PM.
