'Bill' Beasley, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born January 31, 1926 in Leavenworth, KS, Mazie was a daughter to the late William Thomas Byrns and Ethel Lee Cochran Byrns. She graduated with a degree in Microbiology from the University of Kansas and earned her Masters in Health Education from the University of North Florida. She retired in 1989 as the Director of the School of Medical Technology from St. Vincent's Medical Center, Jacksonville, FL. Mazie moved to Anderson, SC in 1994 and became an active member at First Presbyterian Church. She volunteered with the Church Office and the Kitchen Ministry where she became known as 'The Dessert Lady.' She belonged to the Ladies Bible Class, Circle #3, the Wayfarers, and the Presbyterian Women. Outside her church work, Mazie volunteered with VITA, AnMed Health Resource Center and the AARP, where she served as past President and Secretary/Treasurer. She also belonged to several Medical Technology Associations. Mazie loved to explore the world and meet new people. She traveled throughout Europe and Asia experiencing different cultures. She traveled across North America, twice, on a motorcycle. One of her many joys in life was attending the annual family reunion where her siblings and their families would meet in a different city every year.Mazie is survived by her daughter, Judy Schawe and her husband, Rick of Huntingdon, PA, and their children, Kate and Jeff Schawe; step-children, Darryl Seymore and Patricia Ward, Cheryl Wilson, Brenda Church and her husband, Johnny, and Sandra Dominick; step-grandchildren, Gina White, Aaron and Jennifer Barlow, Shannon Wicker, Jonathon Church, Laura Howell, Ryan Howell, Erik Swanson and Sherry Ward; great-granddaughter, Danielle Nichole Wicker; brothers, Edward Thomas Byrns and his wife, Elfriede of Mountain Home, AR, Walter Norman Byrns and his wife, Stephanie of Colton, CA, and John Wesley Byrns of Cedar Hill, TX; sisters, Helen Elnora Byrns Lynch Baker of Walsenburg, CO, and Mary Alice Livingston and her husband, Jim of Castle Rock, CO.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church at 3:00PM with the Reverend Dr. Dennis R. Tedder and the Reverend Caroline East Berardi officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, SC.The family will receive friends in the Kirk of First Presbyterian Church from 1:30PM until 2:30PM before the service on Saturday, March 13, 2010.Flowers are optional.
