Ethel Singleton Burdette, age 95, a resident of The Haven in the Village at Chanticleer in Greenville, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 12, 2018.
Born in Oconee County, SC on December 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late George Putman and Ella Blanchett Singleton. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Clarence Acker Burdette. Mrs. Burdette was a residential rental property manager with at one time twelve houses. She also worked at the Singer plant and attended the Freedom Center Church. Ethel was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a brother, Wade H. Singleton and his wife Rubye of Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Haven in the Village for the loving care provided Mrs. Burdette during her residency, and caregivers, Ashley and Crystal.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Clarence, Ethel was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters Whitner K. Singleton, Luther Singleton, Robert Singleton, William O. Singleton, Dessie Carter, Minnie Findley, Lydia Chapman, Geneva Singleton, Ruby Peebles and Lillian Evans.
The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Ethel Burdette will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 2:30 at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Pastor Phil Sears officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
