Gladys Etrulia "Trudy" Smith, age 84, of Starr, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Rainey Hospice House. Born on April 15, 1932, in Starr, she was the daughter of the late Albert C. Smith, Sr. and the late Lois Mitchell Smith. She enjoyed walking outdoors, camping and looking at the flowers and vegetables growing in the gardens. Trudy was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Trudy leaves behind four sisters, Ruth Wiles of Iva, Diane Dyar, of Starr, Connie Smith of Greenwood, and Kay Campbell and her husband, Dean, of Belton; she was also a second mother to twenty-seven nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She also leaves behind her cat, "Bailey." In addition to her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by a brother, Albert C. Smith, Jr.; and two sisters, Frances Campbell and Sybil Adams. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Trudy Smith will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 2 PM at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Garrett Hart officiating. Interment will follow at Starr Baptist Church Cemetery.
