ATKINS March 22, 1930 - December 1, 2012 Eula Mae Owens Atkins, age 82, of Sterling House, 131 Vickery Drive, Central, formally of Pendleton, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012. Born in LaFrance, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Harrison Owens and the late Lois McGill Owens. Until his death in 1998, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Eddie Ray Atkins for 47 years. Mrs. Atkins graduated from Thornwell High School while a resident of Thornwell Home for Children in Clinton, SC. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and as long as health permitted a faithful member of Pendleton Presbyterian Church. Following her marriage to Eddie, she was a homemaker who dedicated herself to raising children and grandchildren. Left to carry on Mrs. Atkins' legacy is a son, W. R. "Butch" Atkins of Pendleton; a sister, Mrs. Irma Bowen of Anderson; 2 granddaughters, Heather Swords and her husband Andy, of Liberty, Haley Eidson and her husband Paul, of Pendleton. Also surviving are 2 great-grandchildren, Nathan and Emileigh Swords, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Eula Mae was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Cann. A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Eula Atkins will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at 11 AM, at the Pendleton Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Rev. Morton White officiating. The family will be at the home of Heather and Andy Swords, 591 Piney Trail, Liberty, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, December 3, 2012, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
