Evelyn Mae Heavner Dean, 83, loving wife of 65 years to Harold Dean, of 200 Meridian Ave., Taylors, SC, went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her beloved family. Born in Frenchton, WV, on July 11, 1934, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Floyd James Heavner and Opal Katherine Gooden Heavner. She graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in West Virginia and attended West Virginia State University. Evelyn then began her career as a Bookkeeper in the Real Estate Industry. She had a Baptist affiliation and an evangelistic heart having worked with several ministries in her life. Her favorite time of life was traveling with her husband Harold, working with home schoolers with the Abeka Ministries. In addition to her husband Harold, Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Steven Dean and spouse Joy of Indianapolis, IN, and James Dale Dean and spouse Elisa of Anderson, SC; two daughters, Virginia Katherine Vernon and spouse William of Pearl River, LA, and Cheryl Ann Dean of Taylors, SC; two brothers, Robert Heavner and spouse Betty and Gaylord Heavner and spouse Naomi, both of Buckhannon, WV; sister, Christine McKisic and spouse Kenny of French Creek, WV; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. following visitation on Tuesday in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with her son, Reverend Steven Dean officiating. Interment will take place on Wednesday, February 21, at 1:00 p.m. in the Committal Shelter at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Evelyn's honor to Miracle Hill Ministries, 490 S. Pleasantburg Dr., Greenville, SC 29602.
