Evelyn Cobb Dickson, age 83, of Anderson, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at NHC of Anderson. Born on April 12, 1930, in Cedartown, GA, she was the daughter of the late William Luther Cobb and the late Julie Taylor Cobb. For 66 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of Ray J. Dickson of Anderson.
Following her completion of high school, she attended a school of cosmetology and practiced in Anderson for several years. For over 25 years she was employed as a quality control person at BASF, a position from which she retired in the early nineties. Mrs. Dickson was a faithful member of New Prospect Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She was a very creative artist who had many talents which she generously shared with others. Mrs. Dickson was a good seamstress, a creative artist and a great cook. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a friend to many and loved by all who knew her.
In addition to her beloved husband, Ray, she is survived by a son, Ray "Tony" Dickson and wife, Maria, of Anderson; a daughter, Linda D. Jenkins and husband, Dudley, of Anderson; 2 sisters, Doris Radford and husband, Cecil, of Anderson, and Bobbie Thompson and husband, Jim, of Anderson; 3 grandchildren, Jonathan Kirk Burriss, and his wife, Alyson, Kirk Damon Burriss and his wife, Tonya, and Anna-Katherine Dickson; great-grandchildren, Talon Jace Burriss and Drake Austin Burriss.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Etta Marie Dickson; a sister, Azalee Cartee, and brothers, Paul and Harry Cobb.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of NHC Anderson, Station 4, for the loving care, support and prayers in behalf of Evelyn.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Dickson will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014, at 3 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church, with Dr. Tony Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence of Tony and Maria Dickson, 109 Arden Chase, Anderson, SC 29621, and will receive friends at New Prospect Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
