Evelyn Maurine (Cletcher) Goers, 97, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Bon Secours Hospital in Greenville, SC. Born in Dixon Springs, IL, Evelyn was the third child of Eulis Cletcher and Bessie (Spivack) Cletcher. She lived and worked on a farm the early years of her life. After moving to northern Indiana as a young woman, Evelyn eventually met her husband, Arthur Goers, through his first cousin and her best friend, Muriel Herz. Evelyn and Arthur were married in 1951, and lived as husband and wife for more than 50 years. Upon retirement, Evelyn and Arthur moved to Lake Hartwell near Anderson, SC. She lived in Anderson from 1985 until 2019, at which at time she moved to Rolling Green Village in Greenville, SC for her last few years. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur, and brothers Norman and Merlin. She is survived by her four children; Gary, Marshall, Carol and Troy, seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Evelyn is remembered by family and friends for her wonderful cooking and her gentle, kind-hearted temperament. A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson, SC.
