Evelyn Louise Smith Pruitt, age 89, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born July 9, 1935, in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late William Isiah Smith and Lula Mae Barkley Smith. She was married to Charles Edison Pruitt until his death in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde, Claude, Hubert, Horace, and Rev. Calvin Smith; and sisters, Amanda Smith Dyar, Jennie Smith Vickery, and Ruth Smith Elrod. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Evelyn was retired from AT&T and was a long-time member of Pope Drive Baptist Church where she served in the Young-At-Heart group. She was a past president of the Telephone Pioneers of Anderson.

She is survived by her son, Charles W. Pruitt; and daughter, Angela L. Pruitt.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 1:00-1:45 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Dr. Matthew Danuser officiating. A private burial will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
