Obituary

Faith Bannister McDonald, age 69, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, with her loving family at her side.

Born in Anderson SC on July 4, 1956, she was one of five children of the late Dennis Calhoun Bannister and Barbara Fields Bannister of Anderson, SC. She was a graduate of Crescent High School, Clemson University (BA Elementary & Special Education) and two Master's Degrees from West Texas State (MS Health Physical Education, Recreation and Dance) and South Alabama (Masters Educational Leadership and Administration). She retired in 2018 after a 40-year career dedicated to education ranging from pre-school to physical & emotionally handicapped students to college graduates. Her field of expertise was Special Education, Physical Education and Administration. Her passion was helping youth maintain a positive, trouble-free lifestyle exemplified by her work building up the Anderson Alternative School program. She ended her educational career recruiting high quality teachers from around the country into the Greenville County Public School System.

She and her husband, Eddie, grew up in Iva, SC, then living in Amarillo, Texas and Chicago before returning to Anderson. Faith was involved in many social and educational foundations and a volunteer to many charitable organizations. A member of Kappa Alpha Theta and Junior Leagues of Amarillo, TX and Anderson, SC, holding leadership roles. She led camps and workshops for gifted / talented and perceptually-motor impaired students, Cystic Fibrosis Danceathon, and co-founder of "Shape-Up" at West Texas St. University. She supported and serviced Miss South Carolina pageants and was an approved Miss SC judge. She loved and attended many Clemson sporting events and was "All-in Orange" through and through. She loved dancing, boating and spending time with family. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Anderson, SC.

Faith was preceded in death by her parents and youngest sister Mia Bryant (Ron). She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Milford Edgar "Eddie" McDonald II of Iva, SC and son, Milford Edgar "Ford" McDonald III (Marla) of Taylors, SC, sisters Denise Holley (Leon - deceased), Hope Campbell (John), and brother Skipper Bannister (Ashley); grandchildren, Knox McDonald, Nash McDonald; special cousin Tandy and sister-in-law Rose Marie; many other nieces, nephews and other loving family members and dear friends.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Maren Sonstegard-Spray and Rev. Bill Parnell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-1:30 pm.

The family will be at their respective homes and suggest flowers to be optional.
