Florence Dooley Anderson, SC Florence Celano Dooley, age 83, of 2306 Whitehall Avenue, Anderson, SC, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014. Born on August 6, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Peter Celano and Lucille Damiano Celano. She attended Mount Saint Mary's College, where she earned a Masters Degree in Special Education. Over a teaching career that spanned 40 years, she helped build a program with The Association for Help of Retarded Children, as well as teaching fifth and sixth grade children in both New York and South Carolina. After retiring, she was a tireless volunteer at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson Free Clinic and the Anderson County Library. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Curtis Dooley; a son, Michael Dooley; and a son - in-law, George Payne. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Dooley (James) Mangan, of Newburgh, NY, MaryEllen Dooley Payne, of Greenville, Susan Dooley (David) Owen, of Anderson, SC; a daughter-in-law, Melinda Ferguson Dooley, of Newburgh, NY; a brother, Louis (Dorothy) Celano, of Naples, FL; 6 grandchildren, Patrick, Evan, Matthew, Emily, Kelsey (Anthony) and Sophie; 2 great-grandchildren, Kaydence and Sawyer; and 3 nieces and 2 nephews. A Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
